It's a good thing Leprechaun is bad. The plot, acting, and special effects are all absurd. Everything comes together to form a great film. Warwick Davis is fantastic as the leprechaun, while Jennifer Aniston excels in her feature film debut. Watch Leprechaun if you like campy horror films. The farmhouse is now being repainted with the aid of contract workers Nathan Murphy, his 10-year-old brother Alex, and their friend Ozzie Jones, who is considered to be somewhat dimwitted. While Ozzie is scouring the basement, he overhears the leprechaun calling for help and mistakes him for a little child. He frees the leprechaun from the carton by removing the worn out four-leaf clover that was inside of it. Ozzie learns from the leprechaun that he is really an Irish shoemaker who emigrated to the United States in the hope of making his fortune. Ozzie notices a rainbow after his attempts to convince the others that he had seen a leprechaun were unsuccessful. He decides to follow the rainbow in the hopes of finding upon a treasure chest along the way. Alex follows him because he is worried that Ozzie would hurt himself in some way. A bag holding one hundred gold coins mysteriously materializes in front of Ozzie. After Ozzie examines the gold and mistakenly consumes a coin while doing so, they conceal it in an old well in the belief that this would restore Ozzie's mental capacity.
The farm leprechaun fools J. D. by pretending to be a cat and biting his hand. Tory and the others transport the leprechaun to the hospital. Alex and Ozzie visit a pawn shop to inspect the gold's purity. The leprechaun kills the owner, Joe, for stealing his gold and polishes his shoes before departing. On his way home, the leprechaun constructs a go-kart and gets caught for speeding. Leprechaun chases policeman into woods and murders him. The leprechaun returns to the farmhouse and shines every shoe he sees. After dumping off J. D., the group returns to the farm. Nathan is injured by a leprechaun-set bear trap after discovering the house ransacked. The gang beats the leprechaun with rocks and clubs outside.
When they uncover a pistol in the house, they shoot the leprechaun many times. They attempt to leave the property when it doesn't work, but the leprechaun has wrecked the truck's engine. After destroying the truck with the go-kart, the leprechaun terrorizes the group until Ozzie reveals that he and Alex uncovered the pot of money. Tory retrieves the sack from the well and presents it to the leprechaun. They proceed to the hospital, certain that the worst is behind them. As he tallies his treasure, the leprechaun notices that he is missing the final coin that Ozzie ate. He confronts them, certain that they have fooled him, until Ozzie tells them that O'Grady has suffered a stroke and has been admitted to a nursing home. The group diverts the leprechaun's attention by flinging dirty shoes at him, and the leprechaun is forced to shine the shoes while Tory gets into her vehicle and speeds away. At the nursing home, the leprechaun is acting under the guise of O'Grady. Tory is pursued by the leprechaun until they reach an elevator. The leprechaun then throws O'Grady's mutilated body down the elevator shaft as Tory flees. Before he passes away, O'Grady gives her the warning that the only way to kill the leprechaun is with a four-leaf clover, which just so happens to grow in a vast area outside the farm. O'Grady's death puts an end to the conversation. Tory returns to the farmhouse in an attempt to locate a clover, but the leprechaun ambushes her there, and Nathan and Ozzie are required to rescue her. During his pursuit of the last gold coin, the leprechaun suffers serious injuries while trying to retrieve it from Ozzie, who later admits that he swallowed it. Before the leprechaun can kill Ozzie, Alex takes a four-leaf clover that Tory found, fastens it to a wad of gum, and shoots it into the leprechaun's mouth.
